Early Life and Career
Lukas Podolski was born on 31 May 1989 in Gliwice, Poland. His family moved to Germany when he was two years old. He began his football career at the age of six, playing for local club FC Bergheim. In 2003, he joined FC Köln's youth academy, where he quickly rose through the ranks.
Professional Career
Podolski made his professional debut for FC Köln in 2005. He quickly established himself as a talented winger, scoring 18 goals in his first season. In 2006, he moved to Bayern Munich, where he won two Bundesliga titles and the DFB-Pokal. After three seasons at Bayern, Podolski returned to FC Köln in 2009.
In 2012, Podolski joined Arsenal. He spent three seasons with the English club, scoring 31 goals in all competitions. In 2015, he moved to Inter Milan, where he spent two seasons before returning to his former club FC Köln.
International Career
Podolski made his debut for the German national team in 2004. He went on to become one of the most capped players in German history, earning 130 caps and scoring 49 goals. He represented Germany at four World Cups and three European Championships, helping the team win the 2014 World Cup.
Retirement
Podolski retired from international football in 2017 and from club football in 2022. He is considered one of the greatest German footballers of all time and is a legendary figure at FC Köln, where he is known as "Prinz Poldi" (Prince Poldi).
